BCL to introduce Internet service

  • The British Council Library in Mumbai will open Internet service for its members from January 2, 1998. This Cyber Centre will offer half-hour slots to browsers for Rs 50 per head and an additional Rs 5 per laser printout. The Centre will start with four computer monitors, and will add on computers according to demands.
  • The service will be available from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10 am to 5 pm. The aim of this service is to provide access to update British information sites. Members will now be able to access information on governments, countries, statistics, universities, international news and send E-mails to any place in the world.     Free counselling

  • Indian Institutes 8212; a vocational polytech Center 8212; is offering free vocational counselling for those who wish to learn one or more useful skills for career enhancement. They will also be conducting weekend career courses on Saturdays, beginning January 10, 1998 at Indian Institutes, opposite New Empire, near VT Station. Some of the courses offered are Travel amp; Tourism, Arabic, Computers, Commercial Art, Calligraphy, Electronics, etc. For details dial 2070059.
  • Accupressure

  • The Sahkar Accupressure Sanstha will be conducting an Accupressure Training Programme from January 2 to 13, next year at Dombivli.   • Indo-Arab Society

  • Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson, Najma Heptulla, was recently elected as the President of the Indo-Arab Society for the eighth consecutive term in the city. She has been the president of the society since 1983. Among those elected for the post of the vice-presidents, include former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Ramrao Adik, F T Khorakiwalla and Akbar A Heptulla, stated an official press release signed by the honorary general secretary, Z A Bandukwala.
  • Aptitude tests

  • Maharashtra Vyavasaya Margadarshan Kendra MVMK will conduct aptitude tests for 9th to 12th std students. The programme, to be held on Sundays, will help students to plan a suitable career for their future.
