CHANDIGARH, MARCH 11: A colourful cultural programme and several other contests were held at the on going Archo-99, being organised by the students of the Chandigarh College of Architecture.
The highlight of the day was the Millennium Show, based on world architecture during the past 1,000 years. Participating students were required to make models of a hypothetical site measuring 60 meters by 60 meters proposed at Hyde Park in London.
The results of the show, in the order of merit are Vikram Malik and Amit Gupta Kalinga House, Charandeep Singh and Manish Gupta Kanishka House and Hshitij Kapoor and Mudit Mathur Maurya House.
A mural designing competition was also organised today. The students from each house had to design a mural on the concrete support columns located within the college8217;s work rooms.
quot;Swapnil Vasundharaquot;, meaning dynamic dreams was the theme of the Maurya House, while the Kanishka House came up with the idea of quot;Nature in relationship with mankindquot;. The Kalinga House8217;s endeavour through its mural was quot;Inspiration to final-year on the threshold of their careersquot;.
The cultural programme organised in the evening included three plays and fashion rounds with intermittent solo songs and monologues.
quot;Toba Tek Singhquot; based on the mental agony suffered during the Partition was presented by Kanishka House, while Kalinga House dramatised quot;Lovers in Heavenquot;. quot;Epihanyquot;, based on a Biblical story was staged by Maurya House.

The valedictory and prize distribution function, where the play and fashion round winning the top prize today will also be staged formally, is scheduled for tomorrow. The UT Home Secretary, Anuradha Gupta will be the chief guest.
