Are the Hindutva parties aware of the meaning of terrorism, let alone capable of fighting it out? Are they not aware that inter-caste terrorism has been rampant in
India8217;s history? Even today, the continuing internal 8212; familial, feudal, caste and parochial 8212; terrorism causes far more violence than external terrorism. The latter is as yet comparatively sporadic and marginal, but the increased importance paid to it is continuing. History tells us that internal terrorism feeds external terrorism.

With caution
This refers to the report 8216;Pandey stayed as ex-Governor8217;s guest, claims Mufti8217;. By insinuating that Mahant Dayanand Pandey, a suspect in the Malegaon bomb blasts, was a guest of the former governor of J038;K and that the Indian army which has heavy presence in the Kashmir Valley has been infiltrated by the Hindu communal elements, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed is not only calling the integrity of the former governor into question but also accusing the Indian army of bias.
We need to be cautious in making such suggestions. One, the religious leader, as of now, is only a suspect. Let the law take its course. Two, governors are constitutional functionaries. Hundreds of people meet them every day. If the Mufti knew what that the Mahant was heading a Hindu terrorist outfit, why didn8217;t he warn the former governor then?
As for his suggestion that the army has been infiltrated by communalists, that is nothing but a slur. The Indian army has been as patriotic, as apolitical and as neutral as a national army can be. Aberrations are possible but these are immediately taken care of.

Odd defence
Terrorism has no religion. The BJP8217;s so-called defence of Pragya Thakur or Lt-Col Purohit is baffling. The anti-terror squad has unveiled the terror face of the Sangh Parivar, and if the investigation proceeds in the right direction it may reveal further names. So it is not defence as much as it is fear. Instead of endorsing fake statements, the BJP should support the investigation and wait for the final outcome. Another point to note: if the ATS is fake, then why do the courts continuously support them?

It8217;s cricket
Yuvraj Singh when he gets going is a treat to watch. The resurgent Yuvi deserves all the praise lavished on him. There is however one undesirable aspect of his success: his exuberance. The mouthing of harsh words, as if to prove his point to someone, appears ungraceful. It almost gives an impression that Yuvraj feels he has achieved more than his capability. A more mature reaction is expected from such a gifted and now senior player.
