Trump links Greenland push to Nobel snub

Trump’s pursuit of Greenland was linked to him not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. According to the response letter by Trump to the European committee, seen by Reuters, Trump had told Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre that he no longer felt the ‘obligation to think purely of peace’. In his letter, he stated that the Norwegian Nobel Committee had denied him the Nobel Prize despite having put an end to more than eight wars. While Trump declined the seizure of Greenland forcefully, he did threaten the European nations with tariffs.

2025’s Nobel Peace Prize winner was Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who during a meeting at the White House gave her medal to Donald Trump.
