With the dismal economic outlook, London designers such as Luella Bartley, Jonathan Saunders and Richard Nicoll have translated the brights into such subdued sherbet hues as peach, melon and tangerine. These restrained yet cheery shades beg to be slapped on a handbag and worn with everything this spring. One favourite? Stella McCartney’s coral clutch. Bold beautyMakeup artists have created looks such as lush, Brigitte Bardot-inspired tresses and shimmering metallic eyeliner. Two of our favorite updates: the dark, kohl-rimmed eyes at Roberto Cavalli and the glossy, sleek ponytails at Versace.Dress like an EgyptianTutankhamen and Nefertiti are major muses. Look for ornate accessories and floaty shapes with heavy embellishments or metallic gold threading. Pick up some tubular gold bangles or a chunky cuff, such as a blue onyx and brass bracelets.
