PUNE, Oct 12: Amit Kumbhare struck an unbeaten 75 to steer YMCA to a vital first-innings lead against Stars Cricket Club in the Maharashtra Cricket Associa-tion conducted Under-19 Brihans invitation cricket league today.
Kumbhare’s knock saw YMCA well placed at 157 for five at stumps on the first day after Ashish Sharma (5-34) and Rajesh Mahurkar (3-48) undermined Stars CC, whose innings folded up at 127.
Sharma followed his exploits with the ball with a useful unbeaten 21 and will look forward to help Kumbhare consolidate YMCA’s position.
A mammoth 346 for six by Vijay CC, highlighted by Chetan Bhumbar’s 100, sets Vilas Club a tall task in another match played on Tuesday.
Helped by Amit Misal who cracked 78 and Shailesh Pawar who hit 51, Vijay cruised to their total before putting the pressure on Vilas who laboured to 39 for one by the close.
