BANGKOK, OCT 16: Top Indian pro Jeev Milkha Singh was in strong contention for his first title in two years, lying a stroke adrift of the leader entering tomorrow8217;s final round of Asian PGA8217;s Lexus International Golf Tournament.

Jeev, who has not won since claiming the 1996 Philipmorris Asia Cup in Korea, blazed the course with a seven-under 65 to be a stroke behind Zaw Moe of Mayanmar at 13-under 203.

He was three shots ahead of defending champion Prayad Marksaeng of Thailand, who shot 68, first round leader Hendrik Buhrmann of South Africa and Singapore8217;s Mardan Mamat, who both returned identical cards of 70.

PARNITA THIRD IN HONG KONG: Parnita Garewal finished third in the Hong Kong Open Golf Championship. Tuhasini of Sri Lanka and Lim Ailian of Malaysia finished winner and runner-up, according to information received in Mumbai today.

The tournament which was to be played over three days was finished after two, due to typhoon forecast by the weather office. 8220;Owing to long holes, narrow andundulating fairways, elevated greens and extremely windy conditions, it was a task to shoot good scores. It was very disappointing when I got to know there was no more golf to play and a short for the winner8217;s position was over,8221; said Parnita.

KHANEJA WINS: Sumit Khaneja, a 16 handicapper, used his local knowledge and produced a stunning round to win the Ford Invitations Golf 8217;99 at New Delhi today. Khaneja shot across score of six-over, an amazing 10-under par nett, thus making 46 stableford points to beat the second-placed Kanwar Walia by five strokes. The best ladies prize was won by international star Shruti Khanna with a Stableford point of 35.
