CHANDIGARH, Nov 2: The Haryana government has decided to allow interest on the arrears deposited in the General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts of the employees on account of revision of their pay scales from January 1, 1996.The decision would be applicable under Haryana Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 1998 and the Haryana Services (Assured Career Progression) Rules, 1998, which were notified on January 7, 1998 for the state government employees except the employees of Haryana Civil Secretariat, Financial Commissioner (Revenue), Haryana Public Service Commission, Legal Remembrancer and Haryana Vidhan Sabha for whom these rules were extended vide notifications issued on February 6, May 27 and July 29, 1998.Disclosing this here today, Haryana Finance Minister Charan Dass Shorewala said the arrears payable on this account would be treated as additional contribution to the Provident Fund of the employees. The interest is being allowed to mitigate the hardship caused by the delay in preparation of bills of arrears of some employees.
