
DD to telecast Gavaskar saga
MUMBAI: The saga of one of India8217;s cricket legends, former national captain Sunil Manohar Gavaskar, is to be telecast by Doordarshan national channel DD 1 at 1200 hours on July 11, the day after he completes half a century in life.
The film is directed by Saeed Mirza, a release from PMG said here today.
Past and present India stars, including Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar, are expected to share their thoughts about the little master in the programme, according to PMG8217;s press release.
Patil to coach Kenya
MUMBAI: Former Indian cricket coach, Sandeep Patil, is all set to coach the Kenyan team from next month to help them prepare for the 2003 World Cup at South Africa.
The former Test star confirmed his availability to the Kenya Cricket Association for a four-year tenure on Wednesday.
Patil had not only played club cricket in Kenya in the 1980s but had coached the Kenyans during the International Cricket Council trophy in 1997.

NEW DELHI: With a berth to next week8217;s British Open main draw at stake, India8217;s Jeev Milkha Singh got off to an unimpressive start in the Loch Lomond Invitational Golf Tournament in Scotland.
The 27-year-old Jeev could manage only a three-over par 74 and was clubbed with 18 golfers at the 99th spot after Wednesday8217;s first round.
Srikkanth8217;s talent hunt
CHENNAI: Former Indian captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth will be embarking on a unique talent spotting programme to give a new thrust to promote cricket in Tamil Nadu.
Taliking to pressmen, Srikkanth said under the new cricket development programme involving schools, he said two tournaments of 50 overs each would be held in Coimbatore from July 14 to 18 and and in Chennai from August 16 to September 12.
