DUBAI: Three-time champions India will have their task cut out when they take on world number two Cuba in their opening Group A league match of the fifth Sheikh Rashid International volleyball tournament that begins here on Monday.
India, Cuba, African and Arab champions Tunisia and Pakistan have already arrived for the tournament that will run upto January 3.
Laad stuns Sunil
CHENNAI: Reigning National champion Sunil Kumar of Chandigarh crashed out of the Indian Oil Servo-Millennium tennis tournament organised by the Krishnan Training Centre KTC.
Sunil lost the pre-quarterfinal contest to Vijendra Laad of Maharashtra 3-6, 7-6 7-3, 6-2.

NEW DELHI: Rumblings within the Indian hockey team threatenedto erupt once again with veteran Dhanraj Pillay staging a 8220;walkout8221; from the ongoing National camp at Jammu following 8220;differences8221; with chief coach Vasudevan Baskaran.
Pillay met the Indian Hockey Federation chief K P S Gill here to voice his grievances. Gill denied there was any major problems within the team and that seniors Pillay and winger Mukesh Kumar had any tiff with Baskaran, but said, 8220;This is a deliberate mischief being played by someone from outside.quot;
