In a significant achievement, the spy actioner surpassed the worldwide gross of director Siddharth Anand’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan (2023) on Sunday, December 28, moving up a spot in the list of highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
On Sunday, Dhurandhar recorded an India nett collection of Rs 22.5 crore as per early estimates, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. It may be mentioned here that the movie had minted Rs 20.5 crore on Saturday. Dhurandhar’s total domestic nett now stands at Rs 706.40 crore, according to the film’s makers. The only other movies to surpass the Rs 700 crore mark domestically are Pushpa 2: The Rule (Rs 1,234.1 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1,030.42 crore), KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 859.7 crore), and RRR (Rs 782.2 crore).

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the movie also crossed Pathaan’s worldwide collection of Rs 1,055 crore and emerged as the seventh highest-grossing Indian film of all time, with a worldwide total of Rs 1100.23 crore. In this list, Dhurandhar is now trailing behind director Atlee’s SRK-led Jawan (Rs 1,160 crore). Although Dhurandhar is faring far better than Jawan at the moment, as the SRK-starrer’s fourth Sunday earnings stood at Rs 9.37 crore, the Ranveer Singh movie’s overseas collection (Rs 230 crore) is nowhere close to the 2023 actioner (Rs 400 crore), making it doubtful if or when the film will break Jawan’s record.
On Sunday, Dhurandhar recorded an overall occupancy of 46.58 per cent in the Hindi market. While the morning shows commenced at 26.31 per cent, the rate jumped exponentially during the afternoon shows, which saw 56.54 per cent occupancy, and the evening screenings registered 56.89 per cent.

“My first thought on Dhurandhar was that it has basically kicked out South Indian films. Although it’s yet to be seen, I’ll explain why I feel so. We are into hero elevation now. Except for the hero, no one else matters in a movie. We constantly use background score and make the audience worship the hero. Dhurandhar, however, does the exact opposite. So far, Dhurandhar has recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 21.27% on its 4th Monday. Morning shows saw an occupancy of 11.98%, which improved significantly through the day, with afternoon shows at 25.17% and evening shows peaking at 26.67%.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, writer Rumy Jafry, who is a close friend of Akshaye Khanna, vouched for his professionalism. The Dhurandhar actor has been in the news after he exited Drishyam 3 days before the shoot. Kumar Mangat Pathak, who is the producer of the Ajay Devgn starrer, said that "success (of Dhurandhar) has gone to Akshaye Khanna’s head."
“When he had no producers queuing up to sign him, he was still very choosy. Now when he is spoilt for choices, he is still not signing films in a rush. I don’t know what happened between Akshaye and this producer (Kumar Mangat Pathak). But Akshaye Khanna is too much of a professional to back out of an assignment unless he has a valid reason to do so,” said Rumy.

Karan Johar called Dhurandhar a satisfying end to 2025, "I never felt he went wide or he went like I am going to show you a great frame, I felt it was beautifully shot without self-awareness. It made me question my ability as a filmmaker, and that’s always a good thing for me. I look at that through a positive lens. So I began the year loving Saiyaara and ended the year loving Dhurandhar. I loved Lokah, too. I went mad when I watched Lokah."
"I was like, blown away by Dhurandhar, it makes you feel like, oh my craft is limited. Oh my god, look at the use of background music. After earning Rs 1100 .23 crore globally, Dhurandhar is now eyeing Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan lifetimes global gross (Rs 1148.3 crore). It raced past Pathaan's lifetimes (Rs 1080 crore) on Sunday.
Trade analyst Sumit Kadhel wrote on X, "Dhurandhar has created yet another all-time record, registering the biggest 4th weekend ever for a Hindi film. It is now certain that the film will enter the ₹800 Cr club and is also poised to surpass #pushpa2’s lifetime Hindi business of ₹830 Cr."
Dhurandhar has already earned Rs 3.58 crore from Monday pre-sales of tickets. The film is set to cross Rs 10 crore mark on its fourth Monday, which will see it setting up a new record. The highest fourth Monday in Indian cinema was earlier recorded by Pushpa 2 (Rs 7.5 crore).
As Dhurandhar's box office remains rock solid, the number of its shows have also remained stable. On the fourth Monday, it has 9,868 shows scheduled across the nation, and has sold a massive 1.68 lakh tickets for day 25.

So yes, a big chunk of the South audience is watching it with subtitles, and it’s still holding better there than in many North Indian centres. In an interview with The Times of India, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak revealed that Akshaye Khanna walked out of Drishyam 3 just a day before the release of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar. Reacting to this, X user @ffspari shared in a post, "So Akshaye Khanna had quit Drishyam one day before Dhurandhar release but people are busy maligning him. The way these PR machinery operates is dirty."
Addressing reports that Tamannaah Bhatia was rejected for the song, Krystle D'Souza shared with IANS, "I had no idea about all this, but I mean, she's amazing, she's beautiful, and she's so good at what she does. More power to her. You know-what's written in someone's destiny, they receive. I feel like this was meant for me, it was meant for Ayesha, and we got it. But that doesn't take away from how beautiful Tamannaah is or what a great performer she is."
There is no stopping Ranveer Singh's film. Trade site Sacnilk shared that on 4th Sunday the film made Rs 22.25 Cr which was 8.54% higher than the film's 4th Saturday collection which was Rs 20.5 Cr.
As Dhurandhar continues to go strong at the box office during its fourth week, it has earned Rs 22.5 crore. In comparison, Avatar Fire and Has has earned Rs 10.75 crore in India, bringing its total collection to Rs 137.65 crore.
Dhurandhar is going strong globally with $26 million coming from gross collections overseas. The Ranveer Singh film has earned Rs 1064 crore gross worldwide after 24 days.
Dhurandhar storms past Chhaava to emerge as the highest-grossing Bollywood film in Karnataka this year. The film is performing strongly in South India and Dhurandhar 2 will be a pan-India release as it comes out in March 2026.
Within 24 days, Dhurandhar has earned Rs 690 crore net in India, as per Sacnilk. However, the makers said the film earned Rs 700 crore on Sunday.
Dhurandhar again created a record this week with its fourth week collections. With over Rs 57 crore net collection in its 4th weekend, it has emerged as the highest fourth week earner in Hindi, outpacing Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 (Rs 53.75 crore).
After another massive Sunday, Dhurandhar has earned Rs 22.25 crore as per early estimates.
