(Express photo by Abhinav Saha) Delhi-NCR Fog, Cold Wave LIVE Updates: Delhi-NCR witnessed reduced visibility early morning on Tuesday as a thick blanket of fog engulfed the region. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, dense fog is expected to persist till the next two consecutive days. At IGI Airport, Delhi, the current visibility is 350 metres in moderate fog. Over the past three hours, visibility has improved from 50 metres to 350 metres.
Visibility to improve gradually:From around 8:30 am IST on December 30, visibility is expected to further improve to about 600 metres in shallow fog, with a gradual upward trend. By approximately 1:30 pm IST, it is likely to increase to around 1,200 metres in haze or smoke. However, conditions may deteriorate again from about 9:30 pm IST, when visibility could reduce to nearly 800 metres in shallow fog, as per the IMD. The Delhi Airport has also issued a passenger advisory, with airport authorities announcing that the flight operations are being conducted under category-III conditions. Several trains have also been cancelled or delayed due to the fog.

Schools closed in Uttar Pradesh: Meanwhile, schools of all Board affiliations across Uttar Pradesh will remain closed till January 1, 2026, due to the extreme cold and fog conditions. UP CM Yogi Adityanath has asked district authorities to ensure that no individual suffers in the ongoing cold wave. Additional funds have been released to operate night shelters, distribute blankets, and, set up bonfires.
