Implicated TDP MLA suspended

According to sources, the party leadership reviewed the charges against Yadav which include aiding and abetting economic offenders and harbouring Abdul Karim Telgi, an alleged associate of Dawood Ibrahim.

Naidu is understood to have felt that Yadav’s continuation would be detrimental to the party as the Opposition is expected to raise the issue in the forthcoming Monsoon Session of the Assembly, scheduled to begin on September 22. Naidu pointed out that when the Congress promptly acted on the TDP’s demand for suspension of its Chittoor MLA, C.K. Babu, who too was arrested in a criminal case, it would not proper on the part of the ruling party to keep mum in this case.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Police today produced Yadav before a special court. He was remanded to police custody till September 20. Yadav was brought to Pune early this morning by the Special Investigating Team probing the Rs 3,000-crore fake stamps and stamp paper racket case which had rocked Maharashtra after its expose last year.

Apart from sections 33 and 24 of Maharashtra Economic Offences Control Act, provisions of Bombay Stamp Act and various sections of Indian Penal Code have also been applied against Yadav.
