A video showing a man urinating inside a Delhi Metro station has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage over the lack of civic sense. According to viral posts, the incident occurred at a station on the Pink Line.
Reacting to the incident, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Monday issued an appeal to passengers, urging them to help maintain hygiene across metro premises.
“DMRC requests all its passengers to help in keeping the premises clean and hygienic. If passengers notice any such activity by a fellow passenger, they should immediately bring the same to the notice of DMRC authorities,” the DMRC said in a statement, as reported by PTI.
Addressing concerns raised, DMRC also responded to users on X, stating, “Hi, any inconvenience is regretted. Suitable action is taken in case any such activity is noticed.”

The video has drawn sharp criticism online, with users condemning the behaviour and questioning civic responsibility.
“This has happened right in front of me once. It was around 10 at night, and a man started urinating on the platform in front of me. Since then, unless I have no other option, I don’t travel by metro,” a user shared.
“Such people should be put in jail, fined and shamed on social media,” another user commented. “Why not provide more Urinals to help & facilitate the maximum public & avoid this type of nuisance further,” a third user reacted.
Others blamed the incident on broader civic awareness issues.
“Why is anyone even surprised? This is just another Indian male. It shows their upbringing and schooling (if he ever attended one) Our schools teach how to be an engineer or doctor but there is no curriculum on public behaviour and civic sense,” a fourth user added.
This is not an isolated incident. In September last year, another video had surfaced showing an elderly man urinating inside a metro coach at the junction between two compartments, prompting similar public outrage and calls for stricter enforcement.
