IT-major IBM Corporation will shortly sign a memorandum of understanding with Karnataka government to set-up a Linux software development centre’ at Hubli, an official said on Monday.

‘‘We will sign a MoU with IBM in 2-3 days,’’ IT secretary Vivek Kulkarni said after chairman of the $81 billion corporation Samuel J. Kulkarni said the government had asked IBM to relocate its two facilities in Bangalore, a software development centre and a call centre, to a campus environment, besides investing in the proposed hardware park at Devanahalli on the outskirts of Bangalore.

He said the Linux development centre at Hubli would be beneficial for students in the region. Over 5,000 engineering students pass out of colleges in North Karnataka, Kulkarni said.
