BIRMINGHAM, June 6: A moment of good fortune for South Africa's Daryll Cullinan kept third-day honours even in the first Test against England at Edgbaston today. After a rain-delayed start, South Africa were 88 for two at tea in reply to England's first innings of 462. The South Africans were 192 for five at close of play. Having lost both openers for 38, South Africa were rebuilding at 73 for two when Cullinan advanced two yards down the wicket and tried to slog off-spinner Robert Croft over mid-wicket.Hopelessly stranded, Cullinan turned around to see England captain and wicketkeeper Alec Stewart removing the bails.Umpire David Shepherd called for a television replay which showed that Stewart had missed the ball.England (1st innings): Mark Butcher c Kallis b Adams 77, Mike Atherton c Boucher b Donald 103, Alec Stewart c Cullinan b Klusener 49, Nasser Hussain lbw Adams 35, Graham Thorpe b Pollock 10, Mark Ramprakash b Donald 49, Mark Ealham b Adams 5, Dominic Cork c Pollock b Donald 36,Robert Croft c Boucher b Donald 19, Darren Gough not out 16, Angus Fraser c Cronje b Pollock 9;Extras (b17, lb27, nb2, w8): 54.Total: 462.Fall of wickets: 1-179, 2-249, 3-309, 4-309, 5-329, 6-356, 7-411, 8-430, 9-437.Bowling: Donald 35-9-95-4, Pollock 42-12-92-2, Klusener 31-7-74-1, Cronje 11-3-28-0, Adams 42-10-83-3, Kallis 20-7-46-0.South Africa (1st innings): G Kirsten c Butcher b Cork 12, GFJ Liebebberg c sub (Spendlove) b Cork 3, JH Kallis c Stewart b Cork 61, DJ Cullinan b Fraser 78, WJ Cronje c sub (Spenlove) b Cork 1, JN Rhodes not out 36, SM Pollock not out 0.Extras (nb 1): 1Total (5 wickets, 75.2 overs) 192Fall of Wickets: 1-6, 2-38, 3-119, 4-125, 5-191Bowling: Fraser 21-5-50-1, Cork 23-6-52-4, Ealham 12-2-34-0, Croft 19.2-1-56-0
