Holy week programmes in Ahmednagar

AHMEDNAGAR, April 1: Various religious functions have been organised at different churches in the city for the holy week which began with the celebration of Palm Sunday on March 28.

Special prayer services were organised today on the occasion of Maundy Thursday commemorated to remember the Last Supper Jesus Christ had along with his apostles and foundation of the institution of priesthood.

Prayer services will be conducted tomorrow on Good Friday to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The day is called as Good Friday8217; as it is believed that the death of Christ on the cross marks the redemption of humankind from the original sin. Tomorrow8217;s prayer services will be the on theme of sufferings of the Christ on the cross. Good Friday is the last day of the 40-day Lent season during which the devout fast or undertake penance.
