HC takes up contempt case

Punjab and Haryana High Court has fixed November 18 as the next of hearing in a contempt case against a local resident Jaswant Sarpal.

The case, filed as 8216;Court of Own Motion versus Jaswant Sarpal8217;, was filed in August 2004. The contempt pertained to Sarpal8217;s behaviour in the court. Sarpal had made derogatory remarks against the court and judges. Sarpal, who deposed before the High Court on October 30, said that he would face the proceedings and would hire lawyers to file an appropriate reply.
