BANGALORE, NOV 4: The Karnataka High Court has stayed the Cubbon Park denotification order passed by the State Government.

Chief Justice RP Sethi gave the order following a memorandum from city-based English professor GK Govinda Rao and 793 students of BHS College. The order also stated that there should be no more campaign in support and against saving Cubbon Park so as to bring in a better atmosphere to arrive at a proper decision on the matter.

The memorandum by the professor and students sought the court8217;s intervention to issue appropriate orders against the Government order of July 30 denotifying certain areas in Cubbon Park. Any person, organisation, group including judges were restrained from issuing statements on the issue, the order stated.

The Chief Justice also forwarded the memorandum to the Karnataka Legal Aid Board and asked it to bring the matter before an appropriate bench in the High Court as the memorandum has to be treated as public interest petition.
