Dream teamOn the occasion of Mohammed Rafi's death anniversary, well-known music composer, Pyarelal (of Laxmikant-Pyarelal fame), will present a programme, Andaaz-e-Rafi this Saturday, at the Balgandharva Rangmandir at 9 p.m.Pyarelal has recorded some of the most memorable songs with the legendary singer. The programme will focus on the behind-the-scenes activities of the memorable songs, which Pyarelal will explain as well as the rendition of the songs. Moreover, a huge 10-feet screen will display the film clips of this golden song collection - in all, making for unusual entertainment. Sandeep Panchwatkar will anchor the show, with Medha Chandvadkar and Geeta singing along. Ganesh Bagdare and Shreedhar Kulkarni, members of the Mohammed Rafi Fans' Club, have organised the show. Kapil refused to disclose the number of females who have entered the contest. ``It's confidential'' he said. The funds collected which their ad says will be donated to the Kargil soldiers, will be given ``to a voluntary organisation which we have to yet finalise.'' But what seems to be clear as of now are the judges. Says Kapil ``They will be Anupam Kher, K K Kashyap and Jagjit Singh.'' And that a week till the contest is saying a lot!Treat for earsMax Mueller Bhavan along with The Poona Music Society will present a musical evening on Saturday, 7 p.m. at the Gulati hall, with Amit Khaneja playing the baritone and Veronica Krishnayya on the piano. Khaneja has a vast repertoire of lieder and opera arias. He was invited to the Bayreuth Youth Festival in Germany in 1997. Veronica is a teacher of voice and piano. She trained in Mumbai and the USA . Veronica also trains a choir for children called The Pocket Choir. Du Bist Wie Eine Blume, Feldeinsamkeit, Dichterliebe, Di Provenza from La Traviata, Una Furtiva Lagrima, Torna a Surriento, You Will Never Walk Alone from Carousel and Tonight from West Side Story will be a part of the programme.
