What is the significance

Ratha Saptami is regarded as the birthday of Lord Surya, the Sun God. Near the Arasavalli temple lies Indra Pushkarini, a sacred pond believed to have been created by Lord Indra using his Vajrayudha after receiving blessing from the Sun God. Traditionally, devotees take a holy dip in the Pushkarini before a darshan as it is believed to cleanse the body, and grant good health, relief from ailments and grace of Lord Surya.
