Cases against Vedanti

The City Central Crime Branch Division on Monday registered a case against VHP leader Ram Vilas Vedanti for his reported remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, offering a reward of gold for anyone who 8216;beheaded8217; the DMK chief for his remarks against Lord Ram.

The case was registered under Sections 153 wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot, 153 A promoting enmity among different communal groups, 505 statements conducive to public mischief and 506 2 criminal intimidation based on a complaint by one Dhananjeyan, a resident of Chennai.

Later, a meeting of the DMK and its allies passed a resolution demanding that the Centre arrest Vedanti for his statements.
