
MUMBAI, Jan 9: Top bridge teams of the world will be seen in action during the sixth Tolani International Grand Prix Team Championship and the Tolani Invitational Pairs Championship to be staged by the Mumbai Sports amp; Bridge Association MSBA here from January 20.
The five-day Grand Prix team event will be held at the Leela and conclude on Jan 24, and will be followed by the pairs event.
The championships offering prize money of Rs 12 lakh each will feature some big names in world champions Italy, China, Poland, Indonesia and England besides hosts India.
As many as 14 teams from India are expected to compete in the events sponsored by the Tolani Group of Companies. ITC, Ashok Ruia Mumbai, Formidables Delhi and Teloijan Tea Co Calcutta are the prominents teams that would be spearheading the country8217;s challenge.
For the pairs event, three Indian teams 8212; Ashok Vaidya amp; Suhas Vaidya, Anand Mehta amp; Anil Padhye, Dr Mukund Jagannathan amp; RA Agarawal 8212; have already qualified from the Tolani NationalMasters held in October. Besides, nine Indian pairs will be granted entry for a fee, says a MSBA release.
