MUMBAI, Sept 23: Defending champions Sathaye College crashed out of the inter-collegiate kabaddi tournament at the University Pavilion today.

Sathaye lost 10-26 to Thane8217;s Joshi Bedekar in the women8217;s semi-finals and joined last year8217;s runner-up Maharshi Dayanand in the sidelines. Dayanand lost by three points 17-20 to Ruparel with Sarita Rane, Sheetal Lad and Rashmi Patil playing significant roles for the victors.

The semi-finalists of the inter-collegiate tournament qualify for the inter-zonals.

St Dominic Savio Andheri and Bai Avabai F Petit claimed the boys8217; and girls8217; team titles of the third MSSA-Colgate Inter-School road races at the Cardinal Gracias High School, Bandra East, recently.

The Bournvita Inter-school chess tournament organised by the Kalina Recreation and Sports Club jointly with the Bombay Chess Association will be held from October 23 to November 1.

The tournament invites all schools from Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts and is open to students upto tenth standard.
