Ambedkar statue vandalised

Residents of Chakradharpur sub-division in West Singhbum district today threatened to paralyse traffic on the highway if the miscreants who had vandalised a statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar were not booked within next three days.

Residents of Chakradharpur sub-division in West Singhbum district today threatened to paralyse traffic on the highway if the miscreants who had vandalised a statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar were not booked within next three days.

The desecration was first detected by some railway employees, a pamphlet circulated by a group of villagers claimed. 8220;They found that its eyes and ears were damages and the face was smeared with dung,8221; it said.

The statue, installed by the Indian Railways in 1982, is located near the Mishrit High School ground run by South Eastern Railways in Chakradharpur. On August 15 last year, the face of the same statue had been found smeared with dung.

Police have taken note of the incident. 8220;We are trying our best to nab the culprits,8221; said DSP Awdhesh Singh.
