NEW DELHI, February 27: Ali Sher, who was one stroke behind the leader on the first day, had a superb five-under 66 to become the sole leader after two rounds in the Rs 5 lakh Aravalli Open Golf tournament at the Aravalli Golf Club, Faridabad, today.

He now aggregates eight-under 134 which also puts him six shots clear of Indrajit Bhalotia (Calcutta), Amit Chopra (Delhi), who are tied for the second spot with two-under 140 aggregate. Forty one professionals made it to the third round after the cut was applied at 12-over 154.

Ali Sher had one poor hole, when he went over on par-4 17th, negating one of the six birdies. He went down three-under and saved two more strokes on his way back.

Vijay Kumar (Lucknow), leader of the Mahindra-PGAI Order of Merit also has an aggregate of two-under 140 after his par round yesterday. Bhalotia had another one-under card, while Chopra, two-under yesterday, finished on par today. Overnight leader Binod Pandey finished with three over.
