Having a morning routine is incredibly important for setting the tone and maximising productivity for the rest of the day. It provides a sense of structure and stability, allowing us to start the day on the right foot. A well-designed morning routine helps us establish positive habits, such as exercise, meditation, or reading, which can enhance our physical and mental well-being. Sobhita Dhulipala believes in something similar as she recently shared her morning routine in a video shared by Tweak India’s YouTube channel.

“Have the peaceful morning you’ve always dreamt of with the charming and witty Sobhita Dhulipala as she takes us through her morning routine full of classical music and steaming idlis with tomato chutney,” the caption read.

On being asked what’s the first thing she reaches for upon waking up, Sobhita revealed that it’s not her phone. “The first thing in my mind is that I have to water the plants. That’s the first thing that comes to my head. I know that I don’t want to go to my phone because I don’t want to get my dopamine hit from just using the phone or the excitement of a feed,” she said, adding that if she does that, she may end up craving that feeling the whole day.

Thanks to the never-ending things we need to get done, our mornings can be extremely rushed. In such a scenario, one may not have enough time to do a full face of makeup. What does Sobhita do to keep her glam game going? “I like minimal makeup so I like tints. When you look at someone and can see skin, I think that’s really beautiful. Then there are your kajal days when you are feeling it,” the actor revealed.

As for following traditional beauty rituals, she shared that she oils her hair, once in a while. “I used to have really long hair. ‘She went to Bombay’ happened and I cut it. But, I have the habit of oiling my hair because that was the only way I could tame it and just braid it. So, I oil my hair. That’s a ritual that’s coming more from a place of self-care than just like a beauty-forward thing,” Sobhita said.

Talking about fitness, the actor said that she got introduced to Pilates after Miss India. “Loved it. Not consistent. This year, as part of my new year resolution, I joined a gym. I have been working out and then I got sick. I got typhoid. Not consistent. But, I think something that really stayed was when you listen to a song and you dance. So for me, working out has not been like a conventional working out because I want to look a certain way,” she said, adding that dancing makes her feel exhilarated so she seeks that.

However, in the lockdown, Sobhita did indulge in some proper working out sessions, she revealed. “Like jhaadu, pocha, bartan, (sweeping, mopping, and cleaning dishes) etc. That was amazing. I love that. There is a certain physicality to my morning routine. It could be to clean the house, whatever it is, but it just flows. There’s no fixed pattern. I am struggling with it. Maybe I should stop fighting and completely give up.”

What is the actor’s go-to breakfast choice? “The ideal option would be idli with tomato chutney. That would be great. Or like podi in ghee. If not, then I sometimes have an omelette or just whatever,” she shared, adding that she had a phase during which she drank bullet coffee but it keeps changing. “If I could just have it my way, it would be idli.”

Opening up about her morning skincare routine, Sobhita revealed that when started to get pimples around her puberty stage, her dad used to say, “Now your face is looking a little watchable. I think it’s really suiting you.” As such, she recounted “never made to feel less for being imperfect” by her parents.

“So, I somehow felt like beauty and skincare was just really not up on my priority list because I was always like. However, of late, I am trying to put some regimen in place. Once I have it properly, I shall reach out to you,” she said.

Further during the interaction, Sobhita said that her morning playlist mostly comprises Indian classical music. “I grew up with MS Subbulakshmi music in my house so I think it’s somewhere part of that fabric for me,” she said.

Tea or coffee? The actor answered: “Honestly, I am a Gemini. I have my days. Sometimes, I am just like, ‘All these people have instant coffee. Terrible. They should have really good quality coffee.’ And I go on giving gyaan about it. And there are other times when I am like, ‘Yaar, what is this coffee? Chai me ek feeling hai‘. So, I really have phases and I am very committed in that phase. Like, if you get what you want, it should be a bonus. It should not be like that you can’t get by without it.”

Sobhita also revealed the philosophy that gets her out of her bed every morning. “When I was a teenager, I read books about death but it actually inspired me to look at this as a very temporary thing that we have. I don’t think life has a purpose. I don’t think it works for me to do something because I get a reward out of it. It doesn’t drive me so much. Focus and concentration are important. When I eat, I only eat. I don’t watch TV. I just only do what I am doing. And I think there’s pleasure in that. There’s joy in that,” she said.

Next, she shared that jewellery makes her feel like a woman. “I love that because a woman is a lot of things. You play so many roles and you do it gently. Like, when I think of jewellery, I think of my mother, teachers, and grandmother. So for me, there’s an association. If you are able to tap into that association or that feeling and give it a physical form, I think that’s nice,” she said.
