Face yoga is a natural practice that involves doing exercises for the face and neck to tone the muscles, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, and improve circulation. It is based on the principle that the muscles in the face respond to exercise just like the muscles in the rest of the body. Many people claim that it can help to improve the appearance of the face, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. One such proponent of the same is Roshni Chopra!

Roshni, who regularly shares several food, decor, and other lifestyle tweaks, took to Instagram to post three easy face yoga exercises. “These are so easy and don’t take much time. Remember to use oil or cream so the hands can glide easily,” she captioned the post.

For the first exercise, she kept both thumbs on the temples and gently rubbed them using the remaining fingers. According to her, this technique “reduces lines on the forehead and stimulates the brain”. Roshni suggested repeating this motion for 30 seconds to one minute.

To perform the next face yoga exercise, keep the thumbs on both sides of your face, and move your index and middle fingers around the eyes. This “relaxes eye area, reduces lines, and improves circulation,” she suggested, asking to repeat this for 30 seconds to one minute.

Finally, for the third face yoga exercise, Roshni shared that you need to blow air in your mouth on both sides, alternatively. “It firms and lift cheeks, and also work on reducing lines. Repeat 30 seconds to 1 minute,” she said.

Emphasising the benefits of face yoga, Dr Narendra Shetty, Chief Wellness Officer, Kshemavana said that it is a natural and holistic approach to facial rejuvenation. “It involves a series of exercises designed to strengthen, tone, and relax the muscles in your face. These facial exercises help to stimulate blood flow, improve lymphatic drainage, and tone facial muscles. The exercises are designed to target specific areas of the face, such as the forehead, cheeks, chin, and neck, and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines,” she said.

According to the expert, some of the most popular types of face yoga include cheek lifter, eye socket smoother, jaw toner, forehead smoother, neck firmer, chin tuck, smile smoother, eye-bag reducer, lip plumper, and brow smoother. “Incorporating face yoga into your daily routine can help to improve the appearance of your skin, while also promoting relaxation and reducing stress in the face and neck,” Dr Shetty added.
