What are Kegel exercises and how do they help?
Kegel exercises help to strengthen pelvic muscles. “Kegel helps to strengthen the urinary sphincter and other muscles that control ejaculation,” said Dr Pratima Thamke, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar.
“Kegel exercises are known to help men to last longer during sex as these exercises tighten up the pelvic muscles. If one wants to improve sexual stamina, strengthen erections, and help control ejaculation then do Kegel exercises without fail and you will surely notice the difference,” said Dr Thamke.
According to Dr Thamke, Kegel exercises help strengthen the ischiocavernosus and bulbocavernosus muscles which help prevent premature ejaculation.
“Kegel exercises or pelvic exercises are also effective in dealing with erectile dysfunction and can be done under the guidance of an expert,’ added Dr Thamke. She said the exercises shown in the videos on the Twitter thread are helpful for tightening the pelvic muscles but it is “better to consult a fitness trainer before doing any exercises”. “Do it under the guidance of an expert only. Do not go overboard while exercising. Not only do such exercises help in managing issues like premature ejaculation but also improve your sexual performance in bed. Try to do these exercises on a regular basis and you will surely notice the difference,” said Dr Thamke.
What should one do?
According to Dr Thamke, one should do Kegel exercises twice a day and “you will surely notice the difference”. “If you choose Kegel exercises, it is crucial that you do them on a daily basis to get successful results,” said Dr Thamke.
