While they were driving back to Ahmedabad in the seized vehicle along with the accused, the vehicle was allegedly involved in a 'collision'.
A team of the Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) needed to be ‘rescued’ by the Vadodara City Police from a mob after a vehicle they were driving met with an accident in the Fatehgunj area. The DCB had nabbed an accused in Vadodara’s Fatehgunj area as part of an investigation into a robbery case and seized a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) allegedly involved in the crime. While they were driving back to Ahmedabad in the seized vehicle along with the accused, the vehicle was allegedly involved in a ‘collision’, triggering massive anger and reaction from a group of local residents. Although the DCB personnel tried to explain that the vehicle was “involved in a crime” and had “malfunctioning brakes”, the angry local residents were unwilling to relent. It was only after a police team from the Fatehgunj station reached the spot and intervened that the crowd dispersed. The DCB team heaved a sigh of relief and continued their journey to Ahmedabad. No injuries were reported in the ‘accident’.
