Ali Fazal speaks about Gurmeet Choudhary's fitness dedication (Photo: Ali Fazal/Gurmeet Choudhary/Instagram)Not just us, but even Ali Fazal seems to be in awe of Gurmeet Choudhary‘s discipline and commitment to fitness. The Mirzapur actor, who worked with Choudhary while filming Khamoshiyan, said, “He wakes up at 4 a.m. He has always been like that. I have shot with him outdoors. I know his routine.”
“He is a superhuman,” Fazal said in an interaction with Bharti Singh and Harssh Limbachiyaa on their YouTube channel.
Notably, Choudhary has previously advocated waking up at dawn to exercise. “There’s something magical about hitting the weights at 4 AM. It’s not just a workout, it’s a ritual. Setting the tone for the day, one rep at a time,” Choudhary wrote on Instagram.
He has also shared that he eats only boiled food, has not had a samosa in over 14 years, and stays away from grains, and sugar. “If you can control 99 per cent of your weight through diet, then you are fit. In the last six-seven months, I have not had any sugar, even in the form of fruits. Rice, chapati, or gluten, nothing at all,” Choudhary once told actor and host Rohit Roy.
Detailing his diet, Choudhary shared that he swears by a spoon of desi ghee on an empty stomach for a strong gut.
“Healthy fat is needed for the bowels. I take it with coffee,” said Choudhary, adding that it is followed by green juice, after which he works out.

“Then I take my breakfast with 8-10 eggs and avocados. After 2 and a half hours, I take boiled chicken with no masalas, mushroom and broccoli. Then, at night, I eat soaked almonds or make it into almond milk. I drink it. Dinner is either grilled chicken or boiled chicken with broccoli and mushroom. Protein shake at night,” said Choudhary.
Taking a a cue, let’s understand what it takes to build immense discipline.
The body’s fitness and health are closely linked with the person’s mental health framework. Undertaking challenges and building discipline by doing them daily has several psychological benefits. “Performing such tasks stimulates the release of hormones like endorphins, the brain’s natural mood enhancers, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. It also promotes a sense of accomplishment, strengthens self-esteem, and builds a resilient mindset. The mental focus required to complete workout and build discipline are qualities that extend beyond exercise to other areas of life,” said Dr Prashant Goyal, senior consultant, psychiatry, Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Delhi.
Moreover, the improved blood circulation resulting from physical activity improves cognitive functions such as memory and decision-making, he added.
Beginners should start with smaller sets and progressively increase repetitions as their strength improves. “It is essential to listen to your body and avoid overexertion, especially if you have pre-existing conditions or physical health issues,” said Dr Goyal.
