The latest song from Ponniyin Selvan 2 is here, and it revolves around Madhurantakan aka Uttama Cholan (played by Rahman). From childhood, Madhurantakan is groomed to become a Shiva bhakt, but his lust for power wins in the end, which makes him compete with Adityakarikalan (Vikram) for the throne. Shivoham, based on Nirvana Shatakam by Adi Shankara, in a sense, goes against the motive of Madhurantakan’s thirst for power.

Shivoham is about transcending the bodily and materialistic world and getting one with the ulterior consciousness, which is Shiva.

Here’s the song:

Composed by AR Rahman, Shivoham is sung by about eight singers Sathyaprakash, Dr. Narayanan, Sreekanth Hariharan, Nivas, Aravind Srinivas, Shenbagaraj, and TS Ayyappan.

The duration of the song is just 1.26 minutes and might surface during the uprising of Madhurantakan, who brings all Shaivites and Agoris to his aide.

Ponniyin Selvan 2, which is also the final part of the franchise, will be released on April 28. The film will tell the rest of the story of the Chola’s struggle against the forces from within and outside of the empire. It will also reveal the identity of Oomai Rani and why she looks similar to Nandini.

Ponniyin Selvan 1 has already collected more than the budget of the two parts put together, according to film trade analysts. However, it is predicted that the second part might cross the collection of the first part due to expectations set by the latter.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan films, based on the books of Kalki Krishnamoorthy, stars Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Karthi, and Prakash Raj in important roles.
