Thalapathy Vijay’s action thriller Leo had a great run in cinema halls during the first six days of its release. But as the festivities of Durga Puja, Navratri and Dusshera wrapped up, the film started showing signs of slowing down. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, on its seventh day, Leo earned Rs 14.47 crore, 55.75% less than what it earned on the sixth day, and on the eighth day, the number fell further to Rs 11 crore.

The total earnings of Leo after an eight-day run in theatres stands at approximately Rs 275.27 crore. Until the afternoon shows, the total Tamil occupancy of the film on Thursday was noted at 22.01%. As per the makers, the film has grossed a worldwide collection of over Rs 500 crore within six days of release. It is still over Rs 100 crore away from Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which earned Rs 604 crore globally.

While it was predicted that Lokesh Kangaraj’s directorial Leo would beat the records held by Rajinikanth’s Jailer, it failed to do so. Jailer stands ahead of Leo in the first week collections in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, reported film trade expert Ramesh Bala.

Leo, also starring Sanjay Dutt, Trisha Krishnan, and Arjun Sarja, still has a scope of breaking some box office records as it has just entered its second week, and there are no major releases in the coming days. The coming weekend will decide the film’s fate.

Meanwhile, actor Vijay has started working on his next film, titled Thalapathy 68. The movie, which was launched in Chennai, will be directed by Venkat Prabhu. It will also star Meenakshi Chaudhry, Prashanth, Mohan, and Prabhudheva. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing music for the film, which will be released next year.
