Tamil actor Aishwarya Rajesh is receiving backlash from fans of Rashmika Mandanna for her alleged statement that she would have been a better fit for the role of Srivalli in Pushpa: The Rise than the Varisu actor. However, Aishwarya, in a new statement, has claimed that her answer was misquoted and taken out of context.

During an event for her recent film Farhana, Aishwarya was asked about the kind of film she wants to do in Telugu, and the actor said that she would like to do something like Srivalli from Pushpa: The Rise. She said that the role Rashmika played would suit her well. However, reports claimed that Aishwarya had said she would have done justice to the role of Srivalli, which didn’t go down well with fans of Rashmika. Many took to social media to chide Aishwarya for her alleged statement.

Now, Aishwarya Rajesh has released a statement, in which she claimed that her answer was  misconstrued and taken out of context. The statement read, “Talking about my work, I was asked in a recent interview on the kind of roles I want to do in Telugu cinema.. I replied I like Telugu films a lot and I would certainly do Telugu films if I get roles that were to my liking. To cite an example, I said I liked the character of Srivalli from Pushpa a lot as I felt such characters would suit me.”

She added, “However, unfortunately, my statement seems to have been misconstrued and is being reported in such a fashion so as to give an impression that I was disparaging the fantastic work of actress Rashmika Mandann in the film. I wish to clear the confusion that seems to have ensued and clarify that I have nothing but great admiration for Rashmika’s work in the film.”

Aishwarya also asked media outlets to “stop speculating and attributing malicious motives to a simple statement” that she made while talking about her desired roles.
