The Guessing Game

Sets of the Tere Naal,reveals the off-screen chemistry between Genelia DSouza and Ritesh Deshmukh.

For long,Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia have kept the industry guessing about their off-screen relationship status. On screen,however,their chemistry will be revealed in Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya. This is evident as they shoot for Pipa Pipa,a high-energy dance number in the movie,at Mumbais Film City. When not facing the camera,the two are engrossed in conversation,having fun.

Ritesh,who plays a Haryanvi rickshaw driver in the film,is excited because,after a long time,he is doing a love story,and that too with his favourite co-star and good friend Genelia,who plays an NRI. The dance sequence is one of the last scenes to be shot. Instead of becoming nostalgic,the duo decide to concentrate on the dance number. In the middle of the shot,Ritesh and Genelia break out of the choreographed steps and do an impromptu jig. They do it so well that it is approved by the director Mandeep Singh and producer Kumar Taurani.

In fact,Taurani has no qualms about accepting the fact that,it was the compatibility of this pair that made him cast the two together. Ritesh and Genelia are happy with the shot and give each other a high five and burst out laughing and chatting loudly,oblivious to the 100-odd extras surrounding them.

Looking at the two,we are tempted to ask if they will do an Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan and announce their wedding soon after the films release? The quieter of the two,Genelia simply smiles. Ritesh speaks in their defence: You guys (journalists) seem to know more than we do. Ritesh,however,admits the fact that they have been best of friends off-screen and this camaraderie shows in their on-screen appearance.

The duo first appeared together when they debuted with Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003. The following year,they worked together in Masti. Ever since,there has been a buzz about the pair dating each other. But,both chose to keep quiet,at the same time,reiterating their closeness as friends. They have similar careergraphs in terms of hits and misses. While Genelia has got her hits with big banners,Ritesh has seen success with multi-starrers. They are reasonably content with the way things have shaped up for them and are hoping that Tere Naal will give their careers a boost in terms of solo leads.
