North India Weather Today Update: Dense to very dense fog conditions will prevail in isolated parts of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi till January 16 (Friday).

North India Weather Today: Dense fog and cold wave conditions prevailed over Delhi skies, with visibility dropping to as low as 50 metres at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), as of 5:30 am on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated.

The air quality remained in the “very poor” category, with Delhi recording an average AQI of 354, as of 2:30 am today, the Air Quality Early Warning Systems (EWS) showed.

The minimum temperature dropped to 5 degrees Celsius in Delhi, the weather agency noted, adding that cold wave conditions are likely to persist throughout the day. Amid the foggy weather conditions, India’s security forces continued their preparations for the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path, news agency PTI reported.

Dense to very dense fog conditions will prevail in isolated parts of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi till January 16 (Friday), mostly during early morning and night hours. Meanwhile, skies in West Rajasthan will be covered in dense fog through the day today.

Similar weather conditions are also likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya till Friday, the IMD stated in its forecast.

It also predicted that isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh will likely experience cold days today and tomorrow.

Cold wave conditions will also continue over Himachal, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand on Friday, and in Odisha till Saturday.
