Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan give a shoutout to Ashutosh Gowariker for 20 years of his production house: ‘Your vision and talent has given us many films to cherish’

Shah Rukh Khan, who worked with Ashutosh Gowariker on Swades, congratulated the filmmaker on AGPPL completing 20 years in the industry. “Congratulations @AshGowariker !! Your vision and talent has given us many films to cherish. Twenty years is a big milestone and here’s to many many more years of fantastic films!! Swades will always be one of my most special films…” SRK wrote on social media.

Responding to Shah Rukh, the filmmaker wrote, “Thank you so much, Shah… for being a friend AND well-wisher for the longest time! #Swades is truly that bond between us, that will always remain so SPECIAL!!!.”

Hrithik Roshan, who headlined Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar alongside Aishwarya Rai, also congratulated the filmmaker on his achievement. “Congratulations on 20 years of excellence in storytelling, direction and producing memorable cinema, @ashutoshgowariker @sunita.gowariker & @agppl team! To many more,” Roshan wrote.

Abhishek Bachchan, who appeared in Gowariker’s 2010 historical action-adventure film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, also congratulated the filmmaker on his production house completing 20 years in the industry. Javed Akhtar and Arjun Kapoor were among the other Bollywood stars who congratulated Gowariker on his milestone.

Ashutosh Gowariker recently opened up about how his filmmaking changed after he launched his production house twenty years ago. When asked what inspired him to establish AGPPL after the success of Aamir Khan’s Lagaan, and what motivated him to start with Swades as his first production venture, Gowariker told Bollywood Hungama, “I realised that if I was again making a film, I’d take the opportunity to stand on my own feet and produce my own stuff. With Lagaan, my experience was very good as Aamir Khan gave me all the freedom and facilities to make the film in the best possible way. I wanted to replicate that, and it was possible only if I became a producer myself. I asked my wife, Sunita, whether she would accept the role of a producer, a field that was new to her as well. Thankfully, she immediately agreed and said she’d love to take on the role. That’s how we started the company. We decided to produce only those films that I wanted to direct. It was too soon to branch out and make films for other directors and develop other talent. We decided to first focus on developing our own talent, which is me.”
