The makers of Satyaprem Ki Katha, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, recently released the recreation of the Ali Sethi song “Pasoori“. The new version has been sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar, and the credit for the composition has been given to Rochak Kohli, along with Ali. Rochak, in a recent interview, said that they received a “lot of hatred” after the song released but as more and more people are listening to the song, they “are saying that this isn’t as bad as we expected”.

Speaking to News18, Rochak said that they can’t stop the reactions, but even before they started work on the recreation, they were anticipating such reactions. “Even before we created the remake, everyone including Ali and Arijit expected such reactions because it is like disrupting something that has been done really well. So the initial reactions were only on the idea that Pasoori was being recreated as many hadn’t even heard the song. We launched the song on Monday morning and we received a lot of hatred. As people are listening to it, their reactions are turning positive and are saying that this isn’t as bad as we expected,” he said.

Rochak Kohli said that they made song with “honest intentions” and “with the best available talent”. He added, “The song has the approval of the original creators. Also, we make sure that we don’t hurt anyone’s sentiments. The original song was poetic and in Punjabi, we decided to simplify it and keep it in Hindi. There were many challenges but overall we are very satisfied with the new version.”

Ali Sethi, who performed the song at Coachella, has been an admirer of Arijit’s singing skills for a few years now. In many interviews, where Ali has spoken about how Hindi film music isn’t as impressive as it used to be, he often brings up the superior quality of Arijit’s voice and his understanding of classical music.

Ali Sethi’s Pasoori was launched on Coke Studio Pakistan but soon became a global hit.
