JEE Main 2025: NTA releases guidelines for PwD candidates
JEE Main 2025: The National Testing Agency will provide compensatory time for PwD and PwBD for the Joint Entrance Examination 2025.

NTA Guidelines for JEE Main 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has outlined specific guidelines for the JEE Main 2025 exam for candidates categorised as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). These guidelines follow numerous inquiries from candidates regarding the use of scribes and the allocation of extra time for these groups.
According to the official announcement, candidates with disabilities (PwD and PwBD) will be granted an additional hour, extending the total time for the JEE Main 2025 exam from three to four hours. Furthermore, eligible candidates can avail of a scribe if they provide the necessary certification documents.
“The word ‘extra time or additional time’ that is being currently used should be changed to ‘compensatory time’ and the same should not be less than 20 minutes per hour of the examination for persons who are allowed the use of scribe/reader/lab assistant. All the candidates with benchmark disabilities who are eligible for availing the facility of scribe in terms of guidelines IV may be allowed additional time of a minimum of one hour for an examination of three hours whether they use the facility of scribe or not,” read the notification.
In case the duration of the examination is less than an hour, then the duration of the additional time should be allowed on a pro-rata basis, mentioned the notification, adding that additional time should not be less than 5 minutes and should be in multiples of 5.
At the same time, NTA has updated the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 website with the latest information. Students who wish to check information related to JEE Main 2025 can check the JEE website — jeemain.nta.nic.in.
NTA had shifted from the old JEE website — jeemain.nta.nic.in — to a new JEE Main website — jeemain.nta.ac.in. However, the agency has once again shifted to the old JEE website — jeemain.nta.nic.in — this year.
The reason behind the change of website last year was development of a new NTA platform. “Till now, NIC (National Informatics Centre) used to host the online application forms of the JEE Main. Now NTA has developed this new platform and is in the process of using its own server for activities related to hosting the online application forms, and generating the city intimation slip, admit card, and score card, etc,” a senior NTA official had told indianexpress.com. Last year’s website also had an automated chat feature that served as an online assistant for aspirants. Students could find this online chat option at the bottom right corner.
The official schedule for JEE Mains 2025 has not been issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) yet. However, media reports suggest that the online application process may begin by late November 2024, though no formal announcement has been made. Candidates will be able to register for JEE Main on the official website— jeemain.nta.nic.in.
