A native of Bihar’s Chhapra district, Anmol Kumar Singh could not think of clearing NEET UG without shifting to another state. Living in the town presented him with several challenges towards his educational journey.
“The primary issue was the lack of quality educational resources that made it difficult to prepare effectively for competitive exams like NEET,” said Kumar adding that his ailing father and financial constraints added to his woes.
Failing in his first attempt, Anmol reappeared for the NEET UG 2024 and managed to get a score of 675 marks. Being the eldest son, he faced the pressure to give his best and to uplift his family’s condition. “I often heard my father saying ‘study hard, Anmol, keep putting your best effort into what you are doing.’ He used to tell me that education was the only path to a better life and his words instilled in me a strong desire to pursue MBBS.”
When asked to list his medical college preferences, he mentioned institutions in states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana over AIIMS-Delhi.
“My motivation stems from a deep-rooted wish to make a meaningful impact on my community and improve healthcare access in Chhapra. Growing up in a small town with limited medical facilities, I witnessed the challenges people faced in obtaining quality healthcare. This experience ignited a passion within me to become a doctor and contribute to the medical field,” said the 18-year-old.
In his journey to clear NEET on his second attempt, his uncle supported him monetarily. “My father is a farmer and has faced significant financial challenges. This made it difficult for them to afford the expenses associated with coaching. Understanding the importance of proper preparation for the NEET exam, my uncle stepped in to provide the necessary financial assistance and got me admitted to Infinity Learn,” said the boy who scored 96 per cent in Class 12.
Sharing about his routine for NEET, he said that he used to wake up at 6 am daily and after coaching used to dedicate several hours each day to self-study, revising concepts, solving questions, and taking mock tests.
“I maintained a structured schedule, allocating specific time slots for different subjects to ensure balanced preparation. In the evenings, I often revisited difficult topics and focused on areas where I needed improvement,” said the boy who wants to be a cardiologist.
He claimed that this disciplined routine combined with regular breaks helped him stay focused and motivated throughout his NEET UG preparation journey.
