Protest march to PMC headquarters

The Lokayat,along with PTTF,Shramik Mahila Morch,Insurance Employees’ Association and PMP Pravasi Sangh,has organised a protest march from Shramik Bhavan to Pune Municipal Corporation headquarters at 3.30 pm on Saturday.

In proportion to the population of Pune,the PMPML should have 2,500 buses. But at present,the PMP has 1,100 buses. Also,the bus fare in Pune is the costliest in the country. The PMC has allotted Rs 800 crore for the transportation,out of which Rs 750 crore are being utilised for road widening,construction of overbridges etc.

Everywhere,the public transport system is subsidised hence,the PMC should also subsidise the PMP.

The protest march will start from Shramik Bhavan near Dengale bridge in Shivajinagar and proceed to PMC headquarters via PMC bus stand.

They demand
* PMPML should get subsidy for 55 buses per lakh popolation every year.
* The bus fare shoud be from Rs.1 to Rs.10
* The monthly pass should be for Rs.400
* The monthly pass for senior citizens and students should be for Rs.200
* Increase in parking charges for four -wheelers
