Having walked the ramp for Colombo Fashion Week,Lakme Fashion Week and Bridal Fashion Week,Pune model Shweta Dolli gives Bollywood a miss

For most models, the opportunity to walk the ramp for a big-ticket fashion week does not come easy. But Pune model Shweta Dolli has a different story to tell. Within a year of being crowned as the winner of a national beauty pageant in 2011,Dolli has walked the ramp for some major fashion festivals like the Colombo Fashion Week,Lakme Fashion Week and Bridal Fashion Week to name a few. “It usually takes years for struggling models to gain recognition in this industry. I consider myself fortunate, but it also helped that I made the right contacts,” reveals Dolli.

After finishing her schooling from Pune’s Army Public School,21-year-old pursued Maths Honours from Sri Venkateshwara College (Delhi University). Currently in Mumbai,Dolli frequently flies down to Pune for short breaks to unwind at her parent’s home. “Though I missed participating in the Pune Fashion Week this year,I would love to walk the ramp in Pune someday since it’s my hometown,” adds the model who stands tall at almost six feet.

Even though she has made it big very early in her career,Dolli says she works hard to keep up with the industry standards. “I’ve been working every single day since 2011. When I’m not on the ramp,I’m shooting for magazines or ads. I absolutely love every moment of it,” says Dolli. She recently completed a photoshoot for Elle and Marie Claire fashion magazines.

Though Dolli does not dismiss the idea of working in Bollywood someday, she wants to focus on the fashion industry for the time being. The young model, who is gearing up for the next Lakme Fashion week to be held in Mumbai this August, says,“The ramp treats me like a princess and I want to spend my time enjoying that. I am not thinking of Bollywood right now,I don’t see myself fitting into the whole acting and dancing routine any time soon.”
