Doctor robs patient of gold jewellery
A man posing as a doctor robbed a 25-year-old patient of her gold jewellery at Aditya Birla Hospital on Saturday. The suspect told her to remove the ornaments before he administered an injection. According to Hinjewadi police,the woman,a resident of Thergaon,was admitted to the hospital on Friday. Senior police inspector Parshuram Patil of Hinjewadi police station said,As per the complainant,on Saturday morning,a person wearing a doctors apron,entered her room and told her that he had to administer an injection and for that she would have to remove her gold ornaments. She did so and kept them under her pillow. He asked her to turn on her side. The suspect even injected a needle into her neck but did not remove it. When she realised that the man had left,she raised an alarm. Soon after,she realised her ornaments,about 22 gm in weight,were gone too. We have registered a case and started investigation. Rekha Dubey,chief operating officer with Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital,said,We have reported the incident to the police as soon as we came to know. We have shared the CCTV footage with them and have extended full cooperation with them,as it is crucial for us to know the facts.
New Expressway norms run into trouble
Even as the district collectorate came out with a draft notification making it compulsory for heavy vehicles to travel only on the extreme left lane of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway,and the right lane for overtaking,highway police said the rule will hold good only if some basic changes are made in the structure of the highway.
