Sampark Kranti passengers looted

Armed men looted cash and valuables from passengers of Sampark Kranti Express.

The men,who had boarded the train at Delhi,robbed passengers of general compartment when the train was passing through Ghaziabad. The train left Delhi at 7.10 am and its next halt was Kanpur. Most of the victims were bound for Bhubaneswar,the final destination of the train.

The police said at 8 am,eight men threatened passengers with firearms and snatched cash,cellphones and jewellery from them. After robbing the passengers,they pulled the chain near Khurja and jumped off the train. When the train reached Kanpur,the passengers informed the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police. RPF Inspector Sanjay Pandey said there were around 50 passengers in the general compartment where the robbery took place.

Passengers told us that they would lodge an FIR in Bhubaneswar. The train superintendent has noted the incident. After a halt of around 15 minutes,the train left, said Pandey.
