According to officials, the RPF personnel have rescued 442 children and 45 women from Gujarat and Mumbai in Maharashtra, from January to July this year, and sent them to their families or shelter homes of NGOs.
Apart from men entering lady compartments and refusing to move out even while pointed out, instances of groping and brushing against female passengers in crowded trains are still common, women passengers point out.
“There were several other passengers alighting after us and could not get their luggage out before the train started to move. One of them might have pulled the chain. There was no malicious intent behind the action,” said Tripathi.
