As Star Plus completes ten years, heres what made it a household name
Theyve delivered a decade of entertainment-from churning out major channel drivers, setting trends, creating brands, giving us the first family of saas, bahu and beta,Star Plus has come a long way. This decade has been an eventful one,if you look at key milestones, they really would be high-quality entertainment like daily shows that Star began, transformation of cricket from a sport to a glitzy TV bonanza, mushrooming of news channels covering every aspect of everyday life, explosion of a variety of reality shows, regionalisation of television and massive growth in TV viewing households, Keertan Adyanthayas EVP & GM,Star Plus runs through the ever-changing landscape of entertainment. But there isnt much time to rest on past laurels, now its time to focus on the future, adds Keertan. KBC,Kyunki Saas bhi Kabhi Bahu thi,Kahaan Ghar Ghar Ki,Bidaai,Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai & Sach Ka Saamna…come to think of it,Star has created a vast magnitude of brands across its channel offerings. Quiz Keertan on the milestones and challenges, and he feels the biggest challenge theyve faced and continue to face is that viewers are always looking for something new, something innovative and something different. In short, viewers are continuously evolving. The challenge is to evolve their entertainment along with them, for Keertan, the other challenge is to create entertainment that bridges the gap between urban and rural sectors and captures the imagination of both sets of audiences.
Its quite evident that television has changed, and keeping that in mind, the future will see even more variety for viewers, says Keertan. Non-fiction will see an influx of shows and pushing of boundaries with the sheer range of shows on offer. In fiction, concepts will be far bolder and the pace of stories will be speeded up to offer far more spicy fare. Well, stay tuned!
