With 87% data traffic from 3G,mobile data consumption jumped 220 pct in 2013: Airtel

According to Airtel Mobitude2013,smartphone users users are showing tendency for 'bigger the better'.

Driven by double fold increase in smartphone users and a 124% jump in data users,data consumption jumped 220% in 2013 says Bharati Airtel. In their survey – Airtel Mobitude2013 – the telecom major captured the mobile attitude of customers highlighting their preferences. The survey results show that 87% of the data traffic was contributed by 3G enabled devices. Google continues to be the most visited site in terms of unique users followed by YouTube and Facebook.

In the case of smartphone usage,users are showing a tendency for ‘bigger the better’. The survey shows that 5.5’ plus screen jumped 123% in the last two quarters alone while that of up to 3.5’ jumped less than 30%.

Most popular services on mobile in India are Mobile TV ,which witnessed a jump of over 400% viewer ship followed by Hello Tunes (CRBT),Airtel Radio and Karaoke. Govind Rajan,Chief Marketing Officer,Consumer Business,Bharti Airtel (India) said “Today,while the mobile phone is an indispensable 24X7 companion for customers across age groups and geographies,each individual’s preferences and usage requirements differ. Mobitude captures these trends to bring out the true reflection of the customer’s likings & usage habits. The verdict this year has interesting findings of the preferences of more than 194 million customers across the country.”
