New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): The Urs of Nizamuddin Auliya, also known as Hazrat Nizamuddin , at 'Nizammudin Dargah' is one of the biggest religious fairs observed in New Delhi. It was the 712th Urs of Sufi Saint attended by thousands of devotees who come from different parts of the country to pay their respects to the noble soul, and seek his blessings. Hazrat Nizamuddin was a revered Sufi Saint who believed in drawing close to God through renunciation of the world and service to humanity. For him his love of God implied love for humanity and vision of the world was marked by a highly evolved sense of secularity and kindness. People offered silent prayers in memory of the Saint and paid obeisance to him. Later, religious Qawalli in the memory of the Saint was also offered to mark the occasion Qawwali is a form of Sufi devotional music which is performed mainly at Sufi Shrines or Dargah's throughout South Asia. It is one of the musical traditions that stretch back for more than 700 years.
