A CCTV camera captured the accused on a two-wheeler.
Soon after Operation Gang Bust 2026, which targeted gangsters operating in Delhi-NCR, concluded on Sunday, the city witnessed three separate incidents of firing in Outer and East and Southeast Delhi, in a span of three hours, police said.
The first incident occurred in Outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar around 11 pm on Monday, when two men on a motorcycle opened fire outside a gym, police said, adding that hours later, a purported post on Facebook shared from the account of one Randeep Malik claimed the responsibility for it.
A police officer said that the authenticity of the post is being verified, but a case has been registered.
Police said that the two shooters drove past R K Fitness, on Outer Ring Road, and one of them fired two shots outside it. No one was injured in the incident, they said.
The post on Facebook claimed that Randeep and one Anil Pandit, based in the US, had orchestrated the firing as the gym owner had allegedly ignored their calls. “Next time call nahi uthaya to dharti se uthwa dunga tujhe jaise Nadir Shah ko uthaya tha… (Next time, if you do not pick our call, you will be eliminated like Nadir Shah),” it read. The post further read that those who are enemies of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi would remain so. It also mentioned the names of members of other gangs, including Hashim Baba, Kala Rana, and Jitenderr Gogi.
Nadir Shah was killed outside his gym in Greater Kailash in September 2024. More than a dozen people, members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, were arrested later.
The men involved in the Paschim Vihar firing allegedly also opened fire outside the residence of a property dealer in East Delhi’s West Vinod Nagar, police said. “It is suspected that the shooters were the same, as the motorcycle and their physical appearance match in the CCTV footage from both locations,” a senior police officer said, adding that their handler is also suspected to be the same.
Police said that four rounds were fired in the second incident, before the accused fled the spot. Soon after, the property dealer allegedly received a threat on his mobile phone through a voice note from an international number that stated that he would be targeted next.
Police also said that the property dealer had received a similar threat message in September last year, in which the sender — who claimed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang — had even demanded Rs 5 crore.
Police suspect that both the shootings were planned by Randeep and Anil, who are believed to be based in the United States currently.
The third incident of firing was reported outside the residence of an electrician in Southwest Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave around 1 am on Tuesday, police said. An unknown person was allegedly seen firing shots before fleeing on a motorcycle, they added. Prima facie, police said, this did not seem to be linked with the other two incidents.
Bishnoi, an accused in the murder of Punjabi singer Siddhu Moosewala and cases involving threats to and firing outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, is currently lodged in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail. Hashim Baba and Kala Rana are lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
