The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Tuesday launched mobile QR-based periodical passes, offering unlimited travel for one, three, and five days, available from Thursday on the Namma Metro mobile application.
On Tuesday, BMRCL said it is making ongoing efforts to enhance commuter convenience and promote digital ticketing. According to BMRCL, these unlimited travel passes were available only as contactless smart cards, with a Rs 50 refundable security deposit.
With the launch of mobile QR passes, passengers can now enjoy unlimited travel without any security deposit, as they are issued digitally on mobile phones.
This facility will be made available on other mobile applications shortly.
Commuters can scan the QR code displayed on their mobile phones at Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates for entry and exit, BMRCL said.
Here are prices for the Namma Metro passes:
1-day pass: Rs 250
3-day pass: Rs 550
5 days pass: Rs 850
(unlimited travel in the stipulated time)
